“The Story Hiding in the Story – Creativity and Sensitivity” Workshop promotion image

As an Intermediate (Level 2) training of Playback Theatre, this workshop focuses on listening and reflecting with our creativity: giving a voice to and empowering the story teller along with expressing the beauty in diversity and finding the mutual voices connected to the common human experience.

The stories being shared can be “crises” or everyday stories, which can arise during a regular performance or in a workshop. We will pay attention to expressions hidden in the story, audience reactions and sensitivities or “restless” audience reacting to the story. It offers empowerment, relief and a sense of belonging when people shared stories that makes the audience/group feel overwhelm, uncomfortable or even angry.

In this workshop, we will look at the basic principles in handing the stories, such as what scenes to bring onto the stage, ways to enact them in order to empower the tellers and the audience as well as connecting the actors, conditions to pay attention too, and ways to handle these stories for diverse audiences – i.e. children, young people, adults and special groups. The facilitator, Ms Nurit also will share her experiences of working in these contexts, and facilitate an exchange among all of us.
