A Festival for ALL!

 

In 2006, the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong co-organized the International Festival of Inclusive Arts with the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau. The event, a first of its kind in Hong Kong, was a major success as it brought diverse inclusive arts programmes to Hong Kong. Reaching a wide range of audience including people with and without disabilities in various sectors, the Festival marked an important milestone in the effort of promoting excellent inclusive arts programmes and creating an inclusive society through the arts. This year, with the enthusiastic support from the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Lions Clubs International District 303, Hong Kong and Macao, China and Starstreet Precinct, we are delighted to present the Festival of Inclusive Arts 2013 (FIA) in this October. We believe that everyone has the potential and talent in arts and creation; and everyone shares the right of art appreciation.

The theme of the Festival - "Inclusive Arts．Embracing Talent & Heart" encourages interactions, collaborations and exchanges between people with and without disabilities in the community; and sparks the spirit of creativity and inspiration in our lives. With the active participation of local and overseas artists of diverse talents and abilities, the event will not only bear testimony to Hong Kong's belief in inclusiveness, but will also reinforce the city's role as a world-class cultural hub. Held during 16th-23rd October at various venues in the territory, FIA invites the public to embark upon an 8-day extraordinary journey filled with colours and flavours of aesthetics.

 

Major event highlights include:

 

• Three crossover performances with mixtures of pop and classical music, theatre works and dance works created by local and overseas artists with different abilities;
• An inclusive exhibition showcasing creative works by over 100 artists with different abilitiesl; and
• Six Inspiring workshops led by local and overseas artists.

The Festival of Inclusive Arts 2013 has been successfully held from 16th-23rd October. Local artists joined hands with artists from Thailand, Australia and Sichuan as well as FIA Ambassadors Chet Lam, Alice Lau and Jonathan Wong to participate in three compelling performances, an inclusive arts exhibition and six interactive workshops. All of these events have received raptuorous appluase from the public!
