Scheme Introduction

Introduction

Under the sponsorship of the Lee Hysan Foundation, Artists with Disability Development Scheme is established in 2013. The scheme is of the duration of 3 years, which purpose is to establish “Artists with Disability Development Fund” to finance potential disabled artists to refine their artistic attainments, facilitate artists’ communications with schools and society, and foster the development of inclusive arts within community.

Artists with Disability Development Fund

Artists with Disability Development Fund aims to finance and assist outstanding Artists with disability in Hong Kong to pursue local or overseas arts studies in Arts or specific development plan in the arts.  The Fund is open for application every year. Applicants have to submit a detailed proposal, illustrating the artistic development project tailor made by themselves, which will be evaluated by the committee of the Fund. Qualified applicants will be invited to an interview. The evaluation committee is formed by renowned local art practitioners and educators. By evaluating their artistic attainment and development potential, a maximum of 3 Artists with Disability will be awarded on their artistic development plans.

Meet the Artists!

Every year, artists sponsored by the Fund pay visits to local schools and youth centres. During the visits, they share their learning experience and have artistic exchange with the fellows. The idea is to cultivate the participants through the arts, and allow more youngsters to appreciate Arts with the Disabled and its meaningfulness. Visiting artists also invite participants to be Community Ambassador of the Scheme, who will keep on promoting Arts with the Disabled in their communities.

Community Inclusion Event

Community Inclusion Event will be held twice a year during the Scheme. Art programmes are jointly participated by sponsored artists, Community Ambassadors and other artists, with an aim to provide a platform for the exchange of creativity by artists and young people with various abilities, as well as to promote integration and inclusion in society through the arts.
