Liu Tung Mui is an ADA Angel of the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong. She is a recipient of the "2005 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award" and the Medal of Honour (M.H.) by HKSAR for her exemplary efforts in pursuing a meaningful life through painting despite her disability, and for her valuable contribution to charity activities. She is one of the torch-bearers in Beijing 2008 Paralympics. She is one of the candidates of ATV "Hong Kong Top Ten Loving Hearts Selection Campaign" in 2010. Tung Mui became motor impaired as she was born. She began painting in 1992 and had her first solo exhibition "Life‧Rainbow" in 1997 and another two solo exhibitions, "Breaking Out" and "Art and Life" in 1999 and 2005. "Trajectories" was a joint exhibition of Tung Mui and her sister Liu Cheng Mui in 2001. She also took part in various art exhibitions and competitions, e.g., The Large-scale Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition for the Celebration of the 8th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR and International Festival of Inclusive Arts. Her art piece was displayed at MTR Jordan Station in Hong Kong. She was the first-runner-up of the "5th International Abilympics (Prague)". She was one of the juried artists for the "2004 VSA Arts Festival - Dare to Imagine" in Washington D.C.. In December 2009, Tung Mui's piece My Dream is exhibited in Australia. Her two paintings albums were published in 1998 and 2008. She was collaborated with renowned artist Ah Chung to publish a book "Holding Tight; Letting Go". |
