Jockey Club Arts for the Disabled Scheme 2008-2009 School-based Arts Project

The 2008-2009 “School-based Arts Project ”of the Jockey Club Arts for the Disabled Scheme (JCADS), funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, organized by the Labour and Welfare Bureau of the HKSAR Government, and coordinated by Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK) delivered different arts programmes for special schools and special child care centres.

The programmes included:

 “Arts Day”
Provides different kinds of arts experience to 70 special schools and special child care centres students.
 

 “Seed Project”
delivers programmes to 20 special schools and special child care centres for deepening students’ artistic experience.
 

 “Artist-in-Residency”
a programme for 3 special schools or special child care centres that involves of students, parents and schools so that the schools will able to self-generate more arts projects based on the actual needs of the students and schools.

The creativity and facilitation skills of facilitators made all participants (included students, teachers and helpers) enjoyed the activities very much.

Enrich the skills of facilitating art programmes by observing arts activities in different medium and forms.
− Heep Hong Society Cheung Sha Wan Special Child Care Centre

(The Project) let non-art teachers to know more about arts. Teachers can appreciate and aware the talents of students in different aspects through different activities.
− Shatin Public School


The School-based Arts Project, Jockey Club Arts for the Disabled Scheme is a pilot programme for special schools and special child care centres. The Project provides students with basic artistic training through diversified arts activities to develop life-long interest and arts talents.
