ADA Events

The 12th International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Elderly and Disabled Persons (TRANSED 2010) Hong Kong, China, organized by the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, will be held in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on 2-4 June 2010. The theme is "Sustainable Transport and Travel for All".

The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, the Photographic Society of Hong Kong and the Art with the Disabled Association Hong Kong jointly organize "Accessibility and Social Inclusion" photo competition cum exhibition to educate the public and to promote the message of accessibility and social inclusion.

"Accessibility"
Means that people with different abilities can make use of all hardwares, e.g. facilities, transport, roads, construction and assistive devices etc. in the city. At the same time, software support, e.g. sign interpretation, is essential for assuring a barrier-free setting.

"Social inclusion"
Is whether person with/ without disabilities or special needs can live in harmony within the same community and share life experience with the others.

Due to the lack of facilities and concern for accessibility, it creates inconvenience and different obstacles to individuals in our daily life. Therefore, the aim of the conference is to provide more information and advanced technology to achieve the barrier-free society.

The photo competition cum exhibition is to reflect the current situation and to arouse the public concern and awareness on accessibility. Participants are encouraged to observe different communities and express the idea of "Accessibility and Social Inclusion" through the photographs.

Please fill-in and place the application form at the back of each entry and send to the address below on or before 20th April, 2010.

Each participant may submit up to three entries. Each entry should be submitted with one application form placed onto the back.

All entries must be submitted in 8r (8 inches x 10 inches) photo. No framing is required for the submitted works.

All entries can not be less than 500 mega pixels.

All entries must tie in with the theme “Accessibility and Social Inclusion”

For joining student division, school attendance proof is required to provide.

All entries must be original works of the participant and owns the copyright, original file (digital format or film format) was required to show after rewarded.

Entries regardless of winning or not, will not be reimbursed. Submission of the photograph grants organizers the right to use the photograph in its media, including but not limited to its website, marketing materials, or upcoming books and films for non-commercial use, without obtaining the consent of participants or paid to the participants.

The deadline will be 20th April, 2010. Based on the postmark date submitted by post

The Organizers reserve the right to interpret and amend the General Rules and Regulations of the competition, and shall have the final decision on all the relevant arrangements (including the results of adjudication, awards and other arrangements).
