Cross all Borders: A Mini Festival Showcasing New Performing Artists with Disabilities
The first of its kind in Hong Kong, Cross all Borders: A Mini Festival Showcasing New Performing Artists with Disabilities, will be held by ADA in the summer of 2009. Presenting to audience the performances of budding artists with disabilities, the festival aims to draw public recognition to their talents and to encourage the pursuit of meaningful life through arts activities. Selected by an adjudication committee, the outstanding artists will participate in the public performances in August.
Public Performances
Date: 22nd - 23rd August, 2009
Venue: Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre Theatre
Art Forms
1. Music (instrumental, vocal, Cantonese opera, musical, opera)
2. Physical Theatre (dance, mime, drama, puppet, movement, one-man show, multi-media)
Eligibility
An individual participant must be
1) a person with a disability,
2) a permanent resident of the HKSAR, and
3) with no more than 5 years of experience in public performance.
For a group participant,
1) at least half of the team members must be performers with disabilities,
2) all team members must be permanent residents of the HKSAR, and
3) none of the team members has more than 5 years of experience in public performance.
Adjudication Committee
The Committee comprising local art professionals will procure the selection of outstanding performers.
Selection Criteria
Performing techniques, artistry, quality, creativity and teamwork (applicable to group participants).
Financial Aid
Those who are invited to auditions will receive a travel allowance:
Individual - $50 - $100╱Group - $150 - $400
Participants performing at the Festival will be granted an incentive:
Individual - HK$1,000╱Group - HK$2,000

Application Procedures
Applicant is required to submit the following materials by post or in person to ADA at 4th Floor, Causeway Bay Community Centre, 7 Fook Yum Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong:
1. Completed application form;
2. Biographical information of not more than 500 words, with photos or other related information, e.g. news clippings, website printouts and certificates;
3. A CD or DVD recording of the applicant’s performance (video format: mp4 / avi / wmv / mpg / vob; or audio format: mp3 / wav / wma) (Not less than 5 minutes).
Remarks
1. Selected participants will be invited to auditions to be held on 28th May, 2009 (Thu) at the Hall of Causeway Bay Community Centre.
2. Participants should obtain authorizations for the copyrights of any scripts, music and/or designs used for their performances.
3. The organizer reserves the right to present the performances in the form of publications, audio and visual records, and other forms of presentations.
4. All participants must agree that their performances are to be recorded and used for documentation and promotion purposes.
5. All materials submitted for application will not be returned.
6. The organizer reserves the right to make the final decision in case of dispute.
