E-News October 2015 |
Invited by Citywalk, Ms Apple Tong, Green Leaf artist of Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong, shares her colourful world through paint brushes with the public in her first solo exhibition at Citywalk Gallery. 60 pieces of colourful paintings and drawings that have lit up her life are displayed. The public gets the opportunity to explore and understand her silent world. The main character of her drawings has a pair of big eyes which symbolize the artist's emphasis on the importance of vision while being impaired in hearing. The silence reigns in her drawings brings audiences into a brand new territory that is unfamiliar yet full of love.

West Kowloon Cultural District Lyric Theatre Complex – The First Universal Accessibility Stakeholders Meeting
The first Universal Accessibility Stakeholders Meeting for West Kowloon Cultural District Lyric Theatre Complex was successfully held on 2 September. 50 representatives from various rehabilitation organisations, self-help groups and elderly groups attended the meeting. Persons with different abilities learned the architectural design through Sign Interpretation and Audio Description. This stakeholders meeting focused on discussing the theatre’s overall programme organisation as its design was still at the preliminary stage. Attendants enthusiastically expressed their opinions after listening to the presentation by the architectural design team, UAJV. Stakeholders showed their main concerns for the location of the wheelchair accessible seat, gradient of ramps, design of tactile guide path, provision of covered terrace for the access route to the theatre, as well as the connectivity and accessibility consistency of the theatre with other facilities in the cultural district.
We will continue to study and follow-up all comments and suggestions with West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and the architectural design team. Universal Accessibility Stakeholder Meeting will be held again in the near future to further collect stakeholders’ opinions so as to achieve 'Lyric Theatre Complex for All'!
