A Bit More Than Arts Festival: Inclusive Art - Inclusive Life
The Festival will be held from 2 January to 2 February in 2016. This year’s theme is “Inclusive Art - Inclusive Life”. It includes the Play-it-forward Ceremony cum Performances, Exhibitions, Guided Tours cum Workshops, Arts Sharing and Exploration Workshops, artists and community members will share their artistic experiences and creativities with the public. Fundraising Gala 2016
A Fundraising Gala will be held on 13 April 2016 at Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Featuring a number of exhilarating and inspiring performances by over 30 supporters and ADA’s artists with disabilities, the Gala will offer something fresh and new to liven up the evening. Various crossover performances include cantonese opera, cheongsam catwalk, magic, sand painting, piano and dance, etc. All net proceeds will help to develop the artistic talent of people with disabilities and to promote social inclusion through the arts. |
Briefing Session of ‘Artists with Disability Development Fund’ 2016
Sponsored by Lee Hysan Foundation, ‘Artists with Disability Development Fund’ is now accepting application. This fund provides scholarship to artists with disabilities who are under 30 to pursue study locally or in overseas to broaden their artistic horizon & strengthen their artistic skills. A briefing session will take place at Room 719, Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) from 6pm to 7pm on 25 January. Interested parties are cordially invited to this briefing session to understand the application details.

The ADA Angels scheme has been established since 2005. Througout the years, ADA Angels have attained many outstanding achievements in their artistic and career aspects. They all strive for excellence in their specialized areas of arts, which serve them to become role models for other artists with or without disabilities.

Established in 2012, the Green Leaf Artists scheme is aims to cultivate young artists to acquire greater achievement or breakthrough in the arts. Our Green Leaf Artists shoulder the responsibility of promoting social inclusion through the art, promoting ADA's mission of 'Arts are for everyone' into practice.

'Hong Kong North District Flower Bird Insect and Fish Show 2015' Exhibition
'Hong Kong North District Flower Bird Insect and Fish Show 2015' was finished in December. Sponsored by Social Welfare Department, our Registered Artists under the ‘Creativity to Independence Project', namely Chan Shuk Fan, Mandy Tang, Jack Li, Chan Hong Yu and Tam Fau Kei joined the exhibition booth competition. With the theme of 'Blue Sky, Green Fields', their photography and floral design works attracted many residents to visit. The exhibition included audio description which can conjure up an image in audience’s mind, enriching the artistic experience of visitors.
East Kowloon Cultural Centre Barrier-Free Facilities
Concerning the barrier-free facilities of East Kowloon Cultural Centre that will be set up in the next few years, we have been expressed our opinions and suggestions to Leisure and Cultural Services Department continuously. After attending a consultation meeting in late October 2015, we were invited to attend a working meeting, together with other rehabilitation organizations, to further discuss its accessibility facilities.
After a series of works, our suggestions have been acknowledged and incorporated into the plan, including: - Increased number of wheelchair seats in two main theatres; - Working room for audio descriptors - Quiet room for people with autistic spectrum and/or special needs - Accessible dressing room for artists with disabilities With the joint effort and close collaboration with our stakeholders, we look forward to more arts venue with improved arts accessibility facilities in the near future! |
The Hong Kong Museum of Art Barrier Free Facilities Consultation Meeting
After meeting The Hong Kong Museum of Art in early September, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has accepted our suggestion to hold a consultation meeting with stakeholders on 23 November to discuss its barrier free facilitates from users' perspective. We particularly concern the accessible entrance, tactile floor map. tactile guide path and the arrangement of temporary refuge space.
After the meeting, we co-worked with the Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities and submitted our written suggestions to LCSD for their further consideration. We urged the relevant department to hold consultation meeting again and inform stakeholders about the revised design.
