A Bit More Than Arts Festival - Affection for Arts: Life Delighted Through Creativity

Same as before, the annual “A Bit More Than Arts Festival” unveils, works of “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Inclusive Arts Project” completed in the year preceded, through a series of exhibitions, performance showcases, guided tour cum workshop, arts sharing and exploration workshops. The public are cordially invited to participate and experience through this event.

 

 

Aside from recount 2016 bits and pieces of “Inclusive Arts Project”, “A Bit More Than Arts Festival 2016” also marks a new milestone of the Project and the Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio (JCIAS). The Project being extended to 2019, thanks to generous donations by “Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust”. That means “Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong” will keep on organising wide variety of arts education activities; let friends of different abilities, interests, backgrounds and ages continue learning amid atmospheres of arts. Whether they would try something new or seek for further study, learning and creation of arts could bring laughter and satisfaction to our friends.

 

With the theme this year “Affection for Arts: Life Delighted Through Creativity”, the studio wishes that art-loving friends are able to continue their exploration in art and enjoy the happiness of creations. By means of different programme, “A Bit More Than Arts Festival 2016” wishes to share with you the unique thinking of each artist and their highly personalized creations, may you be able to experience multi-facets and beauty of life.

 

Exhibition of Most Favourite Picks

The exhibition is divided into three sections, displaying artworks created by participants of JCIAS workshops in local communities. Aside from most favourite picked works, there are also photos and videos, presenting the creation process, illustrating the work at different stages of creations, sharing participants’ learning experiences and perceptions, and allow the public to understand inclusive arts from various angles.

Date: 15 March 2017 (Wed) – 29 March 2017 (Wed)

Time: 10:00am - 10:00pm

Venue: L3 and L4 Blue Wall, JCCAC

Guided Tours and Workshops

During the Exhibition (I) (1 March – 9 March 2017), guided tours will be provided for schools and groups. The docents will show the artworks and describe the production process to participants. Participants may also try to create their own artworks, with which they will experience the notion of 'Arts are for Everyone'. Admission will be decided by lots drawing. Results will be released in mid-November. For further enquiries, please contact JCIAS staff.

 

Up Close and Personal Performance

An up-close performance, by the participants of the performing arts workshop and joined by performing guests, to exhibit what they have learnt in last year and to kick off “A Bit More Than Arts Festival” .

Participants from the Movement Workshop

Highly imaginative participants convey emotions and tell various stories through postures and body movements.

 

Flash Ensemble

A small ensemble is comprised of performers specialized in different instruments. They will share their passion for music with the audience through performing with different musical arrangements which allows them to communicate.  It will also be a testament to their growth.

 

Participants from the Puppet and IPuppet Making and Theatre Workshop

Participants with good art sense and creativity, express themselves through manipulating unique and lifelike puppets, and tell different stories and thoughts.

 

Performing Guests: Participants from the Creativity to Independence Project Dance Workshop

Dance loving participants, learnt from the workshop different styles and techniques of dancing, blending their creativity with learned knowledge, and presenting to the audience a fascinating piece of work.

Hands-on Creations

During the last year, the Studio organised workshop of various art forms, participants got inspired and learned a lot. “Hands-on Creations” is led by a group of artists with disabilities, sharing bit and pieces of their learning process and creative insights with the public through workshops. 

 

All activities are free of charge. 

Application deadline: 3 Feb, 2017 (Fri) 5:00pm

20 participants per session. Participants will be selected by drawing lots.
