The workshop will be a practical exploration of different modes of storytelling and collaboration, including creative writing exercises and non-verbal image-based workshops.
Kaite O’Reilly is an award-winning playwright based in Wales and was fortunate to train over several years with renowned Brazilian director and pedagogue Augusto Boal. She will lead a practical workshop introducing Boal’s Image Theatre, an egalitarian form where participants mirror and mould each other into scenarios revealing aspects of their experience. She will also offer entry points to creative writing through ‘sensorial writing’. Several lectures about Disability arts and culture in the UK will be given. She will also share videos of her award-winning work with disabled and deaf performers.

Kaite O'Reilly has won many awards for her work, including the Peggy Ramsay Award, M.E.N. best play of the year, Theatre-Wales Award and the Ted Hughes Award for new works in Poetry for her reworking of Aeschylus’s ‘Persians’ for National Theatre Wales in their inaugural year. Her plays have been translated/produced in eleven countries worldwide. Dramaturg for The Llanarth Group, she co-creates work internationally with theatre director Phillip Zarrilli. A leading figure in disability arts and culture, she is patron of Disability Arts Cymru and DaDaFest (Disability arts Deaf arts). She published her groundbreaking collection 'Atypical Plays for Atypical Actors' with Oberon in 2016.
