【Midway, Working On】E-news December 2021 |
Behold the wonders that can come out of ‘ArtWorks: Midway, Working On’ Exhibition. An open invitation to step into the creative world of artists with disabilities, the Exhibition brings together a wide variety of fantastic artworks covering painting, photography, three-dimensional art pieces, etc., created by participants from the ‘ArtWorks: Advanced Arts and Professional Development Workshops’. Participants from three workshops, including photography, character design and painting, aspire to excel in their respective fields and have undergone vigorous hours of advanced and professional development training. The title of the Exhibition nods at artists’ midway along the journey of art creation. Do come to visit the Exhibition!

The 2nd Iteration of the ‘Beyond Sight’ Non-visual Photography Exhibition
The 2nd Iteration of the ‘Beyond Sight’ Non-visual Photography Exhibition once again showcases photographic works produced by six people with visual impairment. Each participant explored different corners of Hong Kong with their camera and presented the subjects, moments, and features that interested them through photography, revealing their inner feelings through unique methods and angles. The exhibition provides an array of different accessibility items, including audio descriptions, tangible representations, braille information, sign videos, accessible art workshops, accessible tours and sharing sessions by the image creators, aspiring to give every audience member the equal right to appreciate art.

【Trainer's Training Masterclass】Embracing Diversity: Creativity – Access – Empowerment
The Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio invites The Deluge Collective, a diverse international collaboration of artists, musicians, and writers, to present this dynamic training programme on creating empowering art to integrate all aspects of access. The workshop will enable participants to develop an intersectional understanding of disability, diversity, accessibility and identities in arts. The Deluge Collective will demonstrate how different forms of arts can, in multiple ways, be utilised as means of self-empowerment and breaking through barriers among different communities, which ultimately encourages social inclusion and promotes disability-led culture on a daily basis. Social workers, teachers, artists, art facilitators, arts administrators and anyone interested are cordially invited to register!

The new edition of ‘Artists with Disability Development Fund’ opens for application!
Established in 2013, the ‘Artists with Disability Development Fund’ is funded by the Lee Hysan Foundation. It aims at nurturing and subsidising outstanding people with disabilities in Hong Kong, aged 30 or below, for local or overseas arts development programmes. Applicants who apply to the Fund successfully will be able to take formal training in the art field or implement tailor-made arts development plans. Over 10 recipients from different artistic backgrounds achieved outstanding accomplishments throughout the years. The new edition of the Fund opens for application on 6 December 2021! More details on the briefing Session will be announced later on. Please stay tuned!

Early office closure on the winter solstice
In celebration of the winter solstice, please note that our head office, ADAM, Jockey Club Arts Accessibility Service Centre and ADA Arts Hub will close earlier at 4:30 pm on 21 December 2021, while Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio will close earlier at 5 pm.
