Arts Accessibility International Symposium
The Arts Accessibility International Symposium will be held online from 28 to 30 July 2022. With a focus on ‘Art Inclusion: Strategies, Policies and Innovations’, the 3-day event gathers over 20 prestigious arts leaders and practitioners from Hong Kong and around the world to share local and international good policies and practices, innovative ideas, as well as research and technology advancements in Arts Accessibility and Social Inclusion.
Topics will cover art inclusion policies and practices; design and operation of inclusive art spaces; inclusive programming; integrated access and assistive technologies; cross-sector collaborations; art inclusion researches and practices in education and rehabilitation. Concurrent to the Symposium, at least four workshops will be held in Hong Kong to allow registered Symposium participants to gain hands-on experience on the many facets of Arts Accessibility. We hope that through the Symposium, networks and collaborations with stakeholders will be strengthened, and wider support for Arts Accessibility will be gained in the long run. Stay tuned for more information on the Symposium and registration announcement in mid-January 2022. Click here to learn more |
Our artists were invited to perform at Hong Kong Disneyland ‘Wondrous Dance for ALL’
Last December, to mark the International Day of Persons of Disabilities, Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) invited our artist, Christine Lau, and students participating in ADAHK’s signature project, Ignition Scheme, to perform at HKDL’s first-of-its-kind processional and inclusive dance performance, aptly named ‘Wondrous Dance for ALL’. It was a remarkable example of how inclusion can lead to boundless opportunities.

The 10th Hong Kong Abilympics completed successfully
The 10th Hong Kong Abilympics, also known as the Olympics of Abilities, was completed successfully on 4 December 2021. Abilympics takes work skills competition to an international level. Many of our artists have attained good results in this series of vocational skills competitions. An award ceremony was organised to celebrate the fantastic results garnered by all of the participants. Particularly worthy of mention is the theme song of The 10th Abilympics, composed and sung by our artist Lee Hin. In the song, he encourages people with disabilities to overcome obstacles, adhere firmly to their beliefs, keep on going and never give up.
