ADAHK artist, Yang Enhua shines at the John F. Kennedy Center
Visually impaired erhu player Yang Enhua, ADAHK artist with disability, won the celebrated VSA International Young Soloists Award and performed at the celebratory concert on June 25 to both live and online audiences. Each year outstanding young musicians with disabilities from around the world are selected to receive this prestigious Award. The only international winner this year, Yang joined by the other five winners from the United States for an electrifying performance at the Millennium Stage, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.. In the exhilarating celebration of music and disability, he played classics Battle Steeds Galloping Ahead, and Spring Water Reflects the Moon to the ecstatic audience.

Arts activities at the Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio are now open for recruitment
‘The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Inclusive Arts Project’ brings you a series of art activities themed on ‘Inspiring Senses’ from July to December to awaken and explore your five senses. The Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio is where you will find the hottest and most loved art activities, including paper cache, multi-media art painting, percussion, shadow puppets, etc. Don’t miss these exciting and creative arts activities and the opportunity to meet fellow art lovers!

‘Artlink’ 2022-2023 is now recruiting! Let’s connect with overseas pen pals through art!
‘Artlink’ connects overseas people of different cultures and backgrounds and initiates a long-distance friendship through art. Participants take part in arts activities guided by art facilitators in the Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio. Every bit of their heart-warming stories will be shared with each other on the Facebook page and through mailing parcels.

‘ArtWorks’ ▎Artist Sharing: Leaving Evidence - Cultural Heritage of Disability Arts (Online Activity)
Caroline Bowditch is best known as a performer, maker, teacher, speaker and mosquito buzzing in the ears of the arts industry. Bowditch has enjoyed an acclaimed career in the UK for over 16 years as a performance maker and industry leader. She is a regular consultant on access and inclusion internationally and also a wheelchair dancer. She is now the CEO of Arts Access Victoria.
In this sharing, Bowditch will share her experience in disability arts and the concept of ‘Leaving Evidence’ and its importance. She will also talk about the cultural heritage of disability arts. On top of that, she will join together with the participants from the ‘Performing Arts Creative Course: Leaving Evidence’ and share the creative process and experience gained during the learning course.
The sharing is conducted in English with simultaneous interpretation in Cantonese.

Register now for the Arts Accessibility International Symposium and its ‘A Taste of ’ Arts Accessibility workshop!
The Arts Accessibility International Symposium will be held online from 28 to 30 July 2022. With a focus on ‘Art Inclusion: Strategies, Policies and Innovations,’ the 3-day event gathers over 20 prestigious arts leaders and practitioners from Hong Kong and around the world to share local and international good policies and practices, innovative ideas, as well as research and technology advancements in Arts Accessibility and Social Inclusion.
A series of workshops is organised for those who are curious to explore more about Arts Accessibility. The workshops will be held on 23, 24 and 31 July 2022, right before and after the Arts Accessibility International Symposium.
Simultaneous interpretation in Cantonese, Putonghua and English; Hong Kong sign language interpretation; audio description in Cantonese and English; as well as live captions in Chinese and English will be available during the Symposium.
