‘A Bit More than Arts Festival 2023: Strolling’ | A Resounding Success
‘A Bit More than Arts Festival,’ the flagship annual art festival of ‘The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant - Inclusive Arts Project,’ came to a successful end on 24 October 2023. With the theme, ‘Strolling,’ this year’s festival featured the fruitful learning outcome from the Project’s participants and built an ‘inclusive park,’ where visitors strolled and savoured various art pieces. For the first time, the team staged the Annual Performance, namely ‘Open the Box’ and Flash Ensemble Mini Concert, at a black box theatre, bringing a series of multi-sensory enjoyment to the audience. There were also a variety of art activities during the festival, including 3 sharing sessions with different topics and 6 different types of art booths, etc., allowing the audience to partake in the arts up close.

AIRSIDE ‘Desire to Fly’ Exhibition and Accessible Tour
An art exhibition titled ‘Desire to Fly’ is now open at AIRSIDE, a new landmark in Kai Tak, guiding visitors through the story of Kai Tak Airport. The exhibition showcases approximately 200 exhibit pieces, such as photos of the former Kai Tak Airport, posters, and other aviation collectables. The collection illustrates the rich history of Kai Tak Airport. Furthermore, a series of artworks created by 21 local artistic groups, including photography, footage, 3D metal installation, interactive design, etc., is displayed to present their yearning for free soaring.
Our Arts Accessibility team was invited to co-organise Accessible Tours for the exhibition. We were honoured to have invited Mr Hogan Loh, the former chairman of the Hong Kong Aviation Club, as a guest speaker to introduce the aircraft, ‘Beagle Pup 100,’ to our visitors. Visually impaired visitors could appreciate the real, full-sized aircraft by touching the engine, propellers, wings, and the cockpit, with the guidance from the Hong Kong Aviation Club’s members, greatly enhancing their tour experience. |
