‘Tour around Hong Kong Charity Walk 2024’ Came to An Successful End
ADAHK’s annual flagship fundraising event, ‘Tour Around Hong Kong Charity Walk 2024,’ concluded on 24 March. It drew more than 200 guests, sponsors, donors, partners, and artists with disabilities to attend and successfully raised funds to support people with disabilities in participating in the arts and their professional development. The Association is honoured to have invited Mr Chris Sun, JP, the Secretary for Labor and Welfare, to officiate the Officiating Ceremony with other Executive Members and Committee Members of ADAHK. Mr Kevin Yeung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, also took the time to attend the Charity Walk. ADAHK’s budding artists with disabilities, Sharon Choi and Shadow Kid, also gave wonderful performances, allowing everyone present to feel their passion and talent for the arts.
ADAHK’s artists with disabilities, with their unique perspectives, created a number of artworks depicting the mountaintop scenery, especially for this event. They captured the beauty of Victoria Peak with their distinct brushstrokes and angles, transforming them into postcards. After the Officiating Ceremony, guests, sponsors, donors, partners, and artists with disabilities embarked on a journey, carrying seven postcards printed with artwork. They walked through the hidden paths on the top of the mountain, immersing themselves in the serene countryside and admiring the artwork of artists with disabilities. They compared the artworks with the real scenery, feeling the charm exuded by these unique creations.
On the day of the event, the Association also set up an exhibition and art booths in the atrium on the first floor of the Peak Galleria, showcasing the different talents of artists with disabilities to the public and promoting social inclusion. The exhibition showcased 9 grand awarded artworks from ‘Cross All Borders: Hong Kong Competition of Showcasing New Visual Artists with Disabilities 2024.’ This year’s ‘Cross All Borders’ received a total of 300 entries of different media and styles, hoping to discover the potential of emerging artists with disabilities and encourage them to realise their potential. The art booths led by artists with disabilities, including balloon twisting, body and face painting, and tattoo stickers, were also popular amongst the Charity Walk's participants.
