As an organization that has long been devoted to promoting inclusive arts with a holistic approach, we actively maintain networks with various arts organizations in different regions and introduce different professional development opportunities to relevant practitioners in Hong Kong. This summer, we have invited a number of overseas experts to organize various trainings to further promote our inclusive arts development in Hong Kong.
Our Jockey Club Arts Accessibility Service Centre is providing a series of Audio Description Training Workshops and Public Seminar from 30 May to 8 June, led by Celia Hughes, Executive Director of VSA Texas. Participants will learn the essential knowledge and skill that apply to the verbal description of visual art and museum exhibits, and also explore basic steps to effective communication with people with different abilities. The training and seminar accommodate describers at all levels of expertise, anyone interested in an overview of Audio Description is welcome to join.

Invited by the Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio (JCIAS), Picasso Chang from Taiwan successfully conducted the Photography Trainers’ Training Workshop and Commercial Photography Workshop in late April. In the workshops, Mr. Chang shared his experiences together with theories of photography with people with different abilities. Participants all found it fruitful and helpful.
JCIAS also invited Carmen Nicole of Battery Dance Company to host the “Dancing to Connect” Workshop from 30 May to 3 June. It introduced different methods and activities which help people with different abilities to dance. The methodology combines theory and practices and it aims to let the participants to use them in their work with people with different abilities.
Cross All Borders has already received applications from over 400 participants! The artworks will be reviewed and selected by a professional adjudication committee. Outstanding artworks will be exhibited at Sha Tin Town Hall Exhibition Gallery during 6-18 September. Shortlisted applicants will be announced on 23 June on our website.

Apple Tong Invited as Illustrator for Young Writers’ Debut Competition
ADA’s Green Leaf Artist, Apple Tong has been invited by Sun Hung Kai Properties Book Club to create graphic for the fifth Young Writers’ Debut Competition. An array of souvenirs and marketing materials with Apple’s illustration would be produced to encourage youngsters to make a difference by recording their unique life stories and sharing with the people around us. Apple’s graphic shows the flow of sand in the sandglass, which signifies the passage of time in a lifetime. Life is too short to wake up with regrets. Apple inspires us to live fully and fill our lives with beautiful colours.
"Art-in-the-bank" by Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited
To enrich the arty atmosphere and provide a more premium service ambience to clients, the Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited has invited our ADA Angels, Ko Nam, Liu Tung Mui and Jack Li as well as our Green Leaf Artist Kevin Cheng to join their “Art-in-the-Bank” campaign. Twenty artworks in total by our four artists have been displayed at the branches in Central, Mong Kok and Nathan Road, adding elements of art to the bank. If you walk by the branches, you can have a look on our artists’ decent artworks and photography! The branches information are as below:
